FunDoo: The new digital skills development tool for young people

UNICEF Greece Country Office and Junior Achievement Greece are pleased to announce the launch of FunDoo, a new and free digital skills development tool for adolescents and young adults living in Greece, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning, and Youth.

The tool is available in Greek and English through the UNICEF platform, U-Report Greece, and aims to equip adolescents and young adults aged 15-24 with 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and emotional skills, creativity etc. In addition, it provides useful career guidance information, as well as exercises for the development of entrepreneurial skills.

All youth 15-24 years old living in Greece can access the tool for free, by sending the message “FunDoo” via WhatsApp, Viber, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger. Users, then, interact with a chatbot through a series of nine interactive tasks, exclusively designed to focus on the process of learning through play. The content is put forward in a simple and understandable language, helping users to carry out easy and short activities that allow them to gradually develop specific skills that meet the demands of the modern labor market. Upon completion of all nine tasks, users can obtain a certificate of participation.

FunDoo's pedagogical approach is based on the principles of experiential learning, giving users the opportunity to complete each task in any order and time they want. The tool was designed with the global expertise of UNICEF, which selected Greece as the 1st country in Europe and the 4th country worldwide for the pilot implementation of the tool. FunDoo's adaptation to the needs of young people living in Greece was based on the results of the poll on the transition from education to the labor market conducted in September 2022 through the U-Report Greece platform, as well as on a series of exploratory focus group discussions with young people and teachers that took place in the 1st quarter of 2023.

UNICEF Greece Country Office and Junior Achievement Greece invite all young people interested to get to know and try FunDoo at the “Trade Fair” organized by Junior Achievement Greece at The Mall Athens, in the framework of the “Student Virtual Enterprise” program, on Friday, 17 March 2023, from 09:00 to 15:00.
